There is a common issue that affects the majority of mechanical pencils - please bear with us as we explain. When using a regular mechanical pencil, the lead tends to wear down unevenly, resulting in a slanted tip shape. This causes variations in line thickness while writing or drawing, as different lead surfaces (pointy, flat, wide, thin) are used depending on how the pencil is held. The Kuru Toga solves this problem by incorporating a clever lead rotation mechanism that continuously spins the pencil lead as you write. A spring-loaded clutch turns the lead slightly each time you lift the pencil off the paper, ensuring a consistent conical tip shape for fine, uniform lines.

The Kuru Toga Advance introduces an improved "W Speed" mechanism that rotates the lead twice as fast as standard models, allowing for quicker lead sharpening. While the regular Kuru Toga pencils rotate the lead every 40 strokes, the Advance model does so every 20 strokes. Additionally, the Advance mechanism includes metal components for smoother and more reliable performance. This model also features a sliding lead sleeve (guide pipe) that moves along with the lead as it shortens while writing. This allows for continuous writing without the need to constantly extend more lead, until the sleeve becomes too short. When not in use, the sleeve can be fully retracted to protect the pencil from damage in pockets or pencil cases.

Kuru Toga's lead rotating technology ensures a consistent writing experience, while the Advance model offers enhanced lead break resistance and a lead size of 0.5mm for precise writing and drawing.
